English

Objectives:

  1. To enhance students’ self-learning abilities.
  2. To increase learners’ positive attitudes towards learning.
  3. To broaden students’ horizons through cultural awareness courses.
  4. To encourage reading across curriculum.
  5. To promote students’ value of positivity and optimism.

Curriculum:

KS1 students have school-based reading and writing lessons while all the students have school-based ‘Knowing the World’ lessons with NET teachers. To broaden students’ horizons and raise their cultural awareness, more than 18 countries including Canada, Italy, Australia, Brazil, Greece, Chili, Peru and Iraq, are introduced to our students. Our P.1 Exploring English Language and Culture Course, inculcated by a British native teacher, is integrated into our English subject and arranged to enhance students’ English ability. The topics cover the UK issues like the weather, sports and famous attractions in the UK.

P1 Maths lessons are conducted by NET teachers to further enhance students’ English abilities and arouse their learning interest in English. For KS2 students, we provide different enhancement classes in the morning and interview training programmes with NETs to equip students for a smooth transition from primary to secondary education. Students can also join different English extracurricular-activities, which provide them with more opportunities in using language in authentic contexts such as English Drama, Puppetry, Fun English (CUHK), Hong Kong International Youth Forum, English Football Club and English Science Club.
